People have been asking what I stand for. So here it is, simply, pointedly, and nicely because we are all in this together.
I am pro-life and believe it should be valued, treasured and protected. That means anti-abortion. I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I am pro-gun, so please leave mine alone as I am a law abiding citizen and tax payer as well. I am pro-union, and think fair work should receive fair compensation with or without union representation. I was back east a couple years ago, and while others marveled at the huge mansions of the tycoons of the past, I couldn't help but think about the 7 day a week, 12 hour days people worked for these "tycoons" before unions in horrible conditions. We have come a long way, but unions shouldn't have to protect those who are taking a free ride. You know what I am talking about. I am pro-natural resources, which means we need to manage them. I hunt, fish, ski, climb etc. We need to protect them, but not to the point where we can't enjoy them. I want to see more legislative decisions that have both sides in a win win solution. I am an educator/RN/coach. It was my responsibility to understand the issue, communicate for understanding, and then make a decision that was beneficial for all. And that's exactly what I intend to do if elected. I think there are a lot of you out there that this resonates with and you need to be heard. Make sure you are and vote this August 7th.
Change starts with you, and it starts here, now, and today...... for a better tomorrow
I am running for Legislative District 19 State Representative position 2
Why am I running? I believe in results, not excuses and I am ready to work hard and get things done.
Looking back over my life, the constant theme is I always wanted those I am serving to have better opportunities and preparation than I had growing up and have worked hard to do that. We should be making a better today so our future generations can have a better tomorrow. I've thought about this decision for many years, and finally I can't sit back any longer because I think I can do a better job. Period.
I was born and raised in SW Washington. I love it here and I love the people. Through the classroom and health care, I have connected with many of you. I’m stepping into this arena to continue making a difference in lives both young and old.
I prefer to the point questions and answers. We need to spend our money wisely to improve school safety, education outcomes, health care, and better manage our natural resources of water, timber, fish and wildlife.
I do not have any elected experience but I am a fast learner.
My professional experience... I have logged in WA, OR, CA, AK and Solomon Islands. I have also pulled lumber, worked in the mill, ran heavy equipment, helped to build homes, and various college jobs. I have been a science teacher for 18 years and coached football and track. I also have my BSN/RN and for 4 years I worked in home health, long term and acute care and ortho/renal hospital floor.
My education:
Graduated from Kelso High School in 1978
Portland Bible College, 1988
Warner Pacific College Bachelor of Science, 1992
City University Master of Education, 1998
Idaho State University Meridian Bachelor of Science in Nursing Accelerated Program, 2010
Over the years I have volunteered my time to help build homes and I have traveled to Honduras many years during the summer to help in eye and medical clinics.
I am ready to get to work for our great state and will work to be a breath of fresh air you can trust.
Please share this and help get the word out. The primary is in August. Let's work together to make our state greater!
Pictures below... Coaching frame from 8th grade team, logging in Alaska (yes it was raining.... always), outdoor resources, marathon on my 40th birthday, AK halibut Petersburg, Rams because the Hawks weren't formed when I was a kid, most wonderful wife and daughter a man could ever ask for, I always try to grab toooo much, Spanish School in Guatemala b/c I wanted to do mission work and know the language, red meat, and then various signs from this wild endeavor in the political arena.
